AI Inspections Pro Just Got Even More Powerful — Here’s What’s New

Fleets generate a lot of valuable information every day: photos, notes, checks completed across dozens or hundreds of inspections. The more thorough that inspection program is, the more evidence your team has to work with. We built AI Inspections Pro to help managers get more value out of that evidence, and today we’re excited to announce a set of new capabilities that make it even easier to act on.

With this update, admins get more control over what AI reviews, recommendations now show up right alongside each inspection’s own photos and notes, and managers can move a finding into a tracked defect in a single step. Here’s a look at what’s new and how it fits into the rest of your inspection program.

What Is AI Inspections Pro?

AI Inspections Pro is a Whip Around add-on that adds a second layer of review to the photos captured during your digital fleet inspections. Drivers and operators complete their inspections as usual, and AI reviews the photo checks an admin has selected, looking for visible signs of damage such as scratches, dents, rust, or leaks. When something may need attention, a recommendation is generated for a manager to evaluate. The AI doesn’t pass or fail a vehicle, and it doesn’t replace a manager’s judgment. It helps managers decide where to look first.

What’s New in This Update

Choose Which Photo Checks AI Reviews

Admins can now select exactly which photo cards AI Inspections Pro analyzes: tires, brakes, body panels, coupling points, or whatever matters most for a given asset type. That means you get to decide where AI focuses, so review time goes toward the checks most likely to surface something worth a closer look. More control for admins, more relevant recommendations for managers.

Recommendations Built Right Into Each Inspection

When AI flags something worth a closer look, the recommendation now appears right alongside that inspection’s own photos and notes — not in a separate AI tool or dashboard. Managers can review AI recommendations exactly where they already review every inspection, and can look back across past inspections to find what needs attention, all in one connected view.

Create a Defect Directly From a Recommendation

Managers can now create a defect straight from an AI recommendation, with relevant details already populated. That makes it faster to connect inspection evidence to your defect and maintenance workflow, so a finding worth acting on can become tracked, assigned work in just a couple of clicks.

Manage Recommendations at Scale

Managers can now ignore recommendations individually or in bulk, provide thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback on individual suggestions, and export AI suggestion counts for reporting. Feedback helps AI Inspections Pro get more relevant over time, and bulk actions give managers overseeing hundreds of inspections a week an easy way to move through recommendations quickly.

Why We Built It This Way

Inspections create the most value when they lead to action: capture, review, prioritize, act. Whip Around already handles the capture. This update strengthens the middle of that chain — AI reviews the photo evidence you’ve selected, recommendations show up where managers already work, and the findings worth following up on move into your defect workflow without extra steps in between.

There’s a real opportunity here, too. A strong inspection program asks drivers to be thorough, and thoroughness means more photos and more information to work with. These updates aren’t about getting drivers through inspections faster, they’re about helping your team get even more operational value out of the time drivers are already investing in every inspection they complete.

A Second Layer of Review, Alongside Your Team

For most fleet managers, manually reviewing every photo from every inspection across a large operation isn’t realistic. AI Inspections Pro adds another layer of review across the photo checks you’ve selected and surfaces recommendations when something may deserve a closer look. It’s an additional set of eyes working alongside your team, not a replacement for it. Every recommendation is still something a manager or mechanic evaluates, and this update is designed to help your team catch more of what matters, faster.

Strengthening Your Inspection Record

A strong inspection program can show more than a completed form. It can show that an inspection occurred, that the driver captured current photo evidence of asset condition, that potential issues were documented, that management had visibility into what was found, and that appropriate issues moved into a defect or maintenance workflow. Whip Around’s live photo capture already builds a strong evidentiary record of each inspection, and this update adds a more connected review layer on top of it, shifting the conversation from “did someone complete the form” to “what did the inspection show, and what did the organization do about it.” General Insulation’s experience building more consistent, well-documented inspections is a great example of what that looks like in practice. You can read about their approach in this inspection and compliance case study.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AI Inspections Pro replace manager review of inspections? No. It adds a second layer of review across selected inspection photos and surfaces recommendations for a manager to evaluate. Managers decide whether a recommendation warrants action.

Which inspection photos does the AI analyze? Only the photo checks an admin selects. This update lets admins choose specific photo cards, so AI review is focused on the checks most likely to matter.

Can a recommendation turn into a work order? Yes. Managers can create a defect directly from a recommendation, with relevant details already filled in, connecting the finding to your existing defect and maintenance workflow.
